Nunawading Netball Club (NNC) endeavours to incorporate opportunity and fairness for all players in its team selection process.

NNC aims to have multiple teams entered into the Melbourne East Netball Association (MENA) competition in each age group from U9 (Net Set Go) to Open, each team with approx. 7-9 to a maximum of 10 players. This will depend upon varying circumstances including but not limited to registration numbers, team harmony & balance, injury.

NNC aims to select players that best meets the needs of both the team and player while supporting skill development, wellbeing and fostering an inclusive and enjoyable experience.

Selection Guidelines and Criteria

 

U9 – U 11

Teams in U9 – U 11 are non-competitive and particular emphasis is placed on building skill, confidence and enjoyment of the game.  Teams in these age groups are selected based upon team balance, friendships / school associations with some consideration given to ability.

U13 – U17

Teams in U13- 17 are selected based on skill / ability (based on assessment and feedback from coaches and team selectors), fitness, attitude / commitment of players and team balance and harmony.

Team Selections

Team selection occurs on an annual basis at the beginning of the Autumn Season and carries through to the Spring Season. However, at times teams will need to be reviewed at the commencement of the Spring Season or on an ad hoc basis where circumstances including but not limited to injury, illness, player withdrawal, team harmony prevail.

Any enquiries regarding team selection (pre and post) must be made inwriting to the NNC President president@nunanetball.com.au . At which time they will be reviewed by the NNC committee.

The selection of teams by the NNC Team Selectors are final. The NNC reserves the right to amend selection criteria if necessary.

Team Selectors

The team selectors are the NNC Registrar, Coaches Coordinator and Umpires Coordinator along with input and feedback from coaches.

Team Selection Requests

Under special circumstances relevant to team selection, parents/guardians may submit a request to the Club President president@nunanetball.com.au in writing prior to team selections. Special requests are reviewed and considered for approval by the NNC Committee.

Where a player requests or the NNC recommends a player play out of their age group (up or down), approval is at the discretion of the NNC committee along with the MENA Committee if requesting to play down. Requests must be made in writing to the NNC President prior to team selections.
